Biography:
Malcolm’s middle name is from the reverend John Gray, a family friend and pastor at St. Andrews in Orillia.
Malcolm farmed the homestead until his fathers death. It was sold to William hill and Ella Ganton. Their son Orville and his wife Hilda Robertson from Rugby farmed there many years [9].
From Orillia Packet and Times Obituary: Mr. Malcolm Gray Mcleod passed away at Midland on Friday, June 1. He was the son of the pioneer McLeod family which came from Scotland to a pioneer farm at Orillia, and later near Hillsdale. He was formerly a farmer, living on the original farm between Hillsdale and Mount St. Louis, which was cleared by his father and is still in the family, but for the past 40 years was retired. He was Presbyterian in religion, and was named after the Rev. Mr. Gray, the first Presbyterian minister at Orillia. Although not a continuous resident of Midland, he was a frequent visitor at the home of his sister, Miss McLeod, during the winter months.
A private funeral service was held at the parlours of A. Barrie & Son on Monday afternoon, June 4, interment being made at Hillsdale.
